A former United States Marine and father of two children, Deputy Ryan Hendrix was an eight year veteran of the Henderson County, NC Sheriff's office at the time of his passing on September 10, 2020. Deputy Hendrix was a member of the SWAT team and also served as a field training officer.

Cpl. Chase Sawyers of the King Police Department conducted a traffic stop on May 29, 2023 when the occupant of the vehicle opened fire on Cpl. Sawyers, striking him in the head. Back up officers quickly arrived on scene and were able to transport Cpl. Sawyers to an area hospital for immediate surgery. We are grateful to report that Cpl.

On March 26, 2024, Captain Metcalf was one of several firefighters responding to a house fire in Lexington, NC, where he initially suffered life-threatening injuries after he was unable to evacuate the structure in time to avoid being trapped. He was later saved by fellow firefighters who were able transport him to Wake Forest Baptist Health where he succumbed to his injuries.
